Engineer I/II/III/Principal
Job Description
PPL Electric Utilities Corp. is hiring an Engineer I/II/III/Principal for onsite work in Allentown, PA. In this role, you will support Distribution Regional Engineering by carrying out supervised, challenging engineering assignments. The work includes planning and design and/or oversight across electrical energy generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization components, systems, and facilities.
What you’ll do
You will contribute to engineering efforts that improve reliability, cost effectiveness, and day-to-day performance of plant equipment and systems. Your assignments will be varied and may be somewhat difficult, requiring evaluation, originality, ingenuity, decision-making, and appropriate authority.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest more effective methods.
- Complete engineering assignments related to design, construction, performance enhancement, cost effectiveness, operation, and maintenance of plant equipment and systems.
- Coordinate the work of engineers, technicians, or other personnel assigned to specific projects as needed.
- Support plant operations and maintenance groups through engineering problem troubleshooting, identification, analysis, and resolution.
- Assist Engineer III and/or Senior Engineers on large and/or complex projects, as required.
- Help develop station or engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
- Plan and control work activities to support an accident-free work place.
- Conduct work in accordance with environmental rules and regulations.
- Regularly review assignments to promote optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Direct the activities of coops, bargaining unit employees, and others as instructed, including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, and related activities.
- Comply with all policies and standards and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
- Engineer I: ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
- Engineer II: ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 2 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will also be counted as engineering experience.
- Engineer III: ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 5 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering plus 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 2 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will also be counted as engineering experience.
- Principal Engineer: ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 10 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering plus 8 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 7 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will be counted as engineering experience for this position.
