Engineer Specialist, System Planning

Enbridge seeks an experienced Engineer Specialist to lead hydraulic modeling and system planning for the Salt Lake City natural gas distribution network. In this hybrid role, you will serve as the technical authority for network simulation, modeling, and contingency planning, guiding load forecasting, asset management, and regulatory engagement. The position blends technical leadership with strategic planning to ensure safe, reliable gas service while shaping the region’s infrastructure investments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while advancing cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee annual load gathering, simulation, and forecasting activities, including the management of supporting systems and integrations.
• Deliver hydraulic modeling, operational analysis, contingency planning, and winter operations support to maintain safe and reliable gas supply.
• Develop cost-effective reinforcement, expansion, and resiliency strategies through asset management planning, long-range forecasting, and infrastructure investment analysis.
• Lead network integrity efforts, major project coordination, and commercial/industrial load additions, ensuring compliance with technical standards and minimizing system risk.
• Manage reinforcement and replacement programs, prepare regulatory evidence and reports, and support regulatory applications, hearings, and stakeholder engagements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 7+ years of experience in natural gas distribution or 10+ years of engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation is preferred.
• Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
• Customer-focused with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, customers, and landowners.
• In-depth knowledge of natural gas distribution codes, standards, policies, and procedures, with demonstrated ability to develop strategy, improve processes, and drive cross-departmental outcomes.

Working Conditions
