Engineered Wood Products Designer

Tri-State Forest Products is seeking an Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Designer for the Saginaw, MI branch. This full-time onsite role focuses on designing residential and light commercial engineered wood floor and roof systems while partnering with retail lumber dealers and builders. The designer will report to the head of the EWP department, with product training provided.

In this position, you will work with the design team and use provided tools to interpret blueprint information into practical structural placement estimates. Customer-facing support is also a key part of the work, including answering questions about designs and helping guide product selection for specific job applications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with the design team
• Design engineered wood products, including I-joist, wood beams, and connectors, for residential and commercial blueprints
• Support customers by answering questions about personal designs and/or other team member designs
• Identify and recommend the best products for customers based on their specific job application
• Use provided design software to interpret residential and commercial blueprints into structural placement estimate plans
• Respond to customer and associate inquiries to help sell, train, and support engineered wood products

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of architecture and/or CAD Systems
• Strong math skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to stay well organized and manage multiple tasks at once
• Outgoing, professional personality with a “can do” attitude
