Engineering Manager - Proprietary Product Design

Join ilocatum in Kansas City, MO, where you will lead engineering work for a proprietary product line in a role that blends hands-on design with team leadership. This onsite position supports a small engineering group and offers meaningful autonomy while you coordinate technical input across sales, customers, and manufacturing.

What you will do

• Lead product design, development, and testing for a proprietary product line.
• Own the end-to-end flow from concept through launch, including R&D and test activities.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for custom configurations and applications, partnering with sales, customers, and manufacturing.
• Manage and mentor a small engineering team, using your experience to develop engineers over time.
• Provide input that supports plans to grow the team.
• Support ERP-related processes, including BOM accuracy, drawing control, and inventory data used by purchasing.
• Handle multiple concurrent projects rather than long, single-duration assignments.
• Work independently with a high degree of autonomy, bringing solutions without reliance on close day-to-day supervision.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical or related).
• Strong, current, hands-on proficiency in SOLIDWORKS.
• Demonstrated background in hands-on product design along with managing or mentoring other engineers.
• Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
• Self-directed work style and comfort operating with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Compensation and benefits

• $110,000 to $140,000 per year, commensurate with experience and team management history.
