Job Description
Onsite in Dulles, Virginia, Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking an Engineering Tech Support - Level 2 to support the integration and test of spacecraft components. This role combines hands-on assembly with careful interpretation of complex engineering documentation, all while upholding strict quality and safety standards. The position offers a salary range of USD 56,000 to 93,400 per year and requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus at least two years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed work instructions and engineering documentation.
- Assemble electromechanical and electronic components and subassemblies.
- Support the integration of critical spaceflight hardware with high attention to detail, safety, and quality.
- Strictly follow ISO processes, cleanroom protocols, hazardous material handling requirements, and operating procedures.
- Demonstrate general technical knowledge in mechanical assemblies and the use of common hand tools as well as precision measuring devices.
- Provide daily updates on work status to center management, engineers, and mechanical leads to resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate effectively within a diverse team and accept constructive feedback from Safety and Quality personnel.
- Display strong organizational skills, adaptability, precision, and a proactive mindset aligned with mission success.
- Maintain flexibility to support off-shift work, weekends, overtime, and up to 25% domestic travel for launch campaign support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of related education or experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Knowledge of electrical measurements (AC/DC, resistance) and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
- Understanding of clean room operations and spacecraft handling protocols.
- Ability to lift and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks such as standing, bending, squatting, leaning, and working with tool tethers.
- Flexibility to work 2nd and 3rd shift schedules, weekends, and overtime as needed.
