Equipment Engineer Lead(Bilingual Mandarin)

Abner Solar Inc. is seeking an Equipment Engineering Lead to guide the development, installation, and reliability of the manufacturing equipment used in solar module production. This onsite role in Wellford, South Carolina, connects U.S. operations with China-based suppliers and engineering teams to maintain high uptime and drive continuous improvement across the equipment lifecycle. The position combines technical leadership with hands-on problem solving, mentoring for engineers and technicians, and a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment engineering initiatives that support manufacturing operations.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup of production equipment.
• Drive equipment reliability improvements to maximize uptime, OEE, and production efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related equipment issues.
• Lead root cause analyses and implement durable corrective actions.
• Develop and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate equipment upgrades, modifications, and optimization projects.
• Collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams to improve manufacturing performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Equipment Engineers and Maintenance Technicians.
• Create and maintain equipment documentation, maintenance procedures, and engineering standards.
• Serve as the primary equipment engineering liaison between U.S. operations and China headquarters.
• Support engineering staffing, training, and capability development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of equipment engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, PLC systems, sensors, motors, drives, and control systems is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin Chinese proficiency would be a plus.
