Field Tech/Systems Engineer (Remote with 50% travel)
Job Description
TKH Security LLC offers a remote friendly Field Tech/Systems Engineer role focused on integrating and supporting Park Assist parking guidance and CCTV systems, with approximately 50% travel to client sites. The position collaborates with Project Managers to deliver installations on schedule and within budget, enabling hands-on work with field deployments and systems integration.

Responsibilities
- Plan and execute projects in coordination with the Lead System Engineer and Project Managers to meet client expectations and financial goals on time.
- Build and configure servers (Windows, Linux, Proxmox VE) for VMS and analytics, including imaging, storage setup, hardening, user accounts, backups, and monitoring agents.
- Configure Layer 2 switches for VLANs (802.1Q), access and trunk ports, PoE budgets, port labeling, LLDP and storm control, plus switch management (management IP, NTP, SNMP, syslog).
- Commission TKH Security Park Assist field equipment (sensors, controllers, gateways) and CCTV devices with IP addressing and firmware updates.
- Define zones, levels, and rows and map each parking bay to the correct camera view; configure regions of interest and masks in the parking guidance software for accurate tracking.
- Confirm camera-to-bay topology and VMS signage accuracy and document mappings in as-built drawings and customer schematics.
- Verify basic system operation, perform testing, and create as-built documentation and port maps before handoff.
- Review daily project status, surface risks and opportunities, and uphold TKH Security quality standards.
- Fulfill contractual obligations and respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Between site visits, review active projects daily, update status in Jira/Confluence or project trackers, identify risks and dependencies, and escalate as needed to PMs and the Lead System Engineer.
- Plan upcoming deployments by developing task plans, installation sequences, port schedules, addressing/VLAN plans, Proxmox VM/LXC sizing, and cut sheets; prepare customer-ready schedules.
- Coordinate logistics and schedules with customers, subcontractors, and vendors; secure access, permits and badging, and maintenance windows; align travel with site readiness.
- Support procurement and readiness by validating BOMs, flagging long lead items, tracking shipments, and ensuring spares/RMAs are available for upcoming work.
- Improve documentation and processes by pre-populating as-built templates, refining SOPs and checklists, and capturing lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Provide remote troubleshooting or configuration guidance to on-site subcontractors as needed to keep projects on track.
Requirements
- 1β4 years in a field technician or closely related role in the construction or technology industry.
- Hands-on experience with CCTV/video systems.
- Hands-on experience with 802.1Q VLANs.
- Hands-on experience with DHCP.
- Hands-on experience with Linux servers.
- Hands-on experience with Proxmox VE.
- Familiarity with Layer 2/3 concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server basics.
- Comfort working on construction sites and with installation and commissioning of technical systems.
- Strong customer-facing skills and experience coordinating with subcontractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Confluence and Jira.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, multitasking, and ability to meet deadlines.
- College degree in a related field preferred; technical school certificate or equivalent experience considered.

Travel
Willingness to travel 50 percent of the time is required.
Location
Based west of the Mississippi River and within a reasonable drive of a major airport; Upper Midwest is strongly considered.
Compensation
Salary: USD 50,000 to 70,000 per year.
