Forward Deployed AI Engineer

BCG X is building and deploying the next generation of AI solutions, and this Forward Deployed AI Engineer role supports that mission from the ground up. You will work alongside teams that take projects through framing, algorithm design, implementation, deployment, and change enablement, while partnering with clients across regions and industries.

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, this onsite position is designed for engineers who can combine strong software development practices with hands-on client engagement, thought leadership, and scientific community contributions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with BCG X teams across the full analytics value-chain end to end, including framing new business challenges, designing innovative algorithms, implementing and deploying scalable solutions, and enabling colleagues and clients to adopt AI
• Contribute to building the next generation of AI solutions
• Partner with clients across BCG regions and industries, including key topics such as climate change, to design, build, and deploy new and innovative solutions
• Develop and deliver thought leadership in scientific communities and contribute to scientific papers
• Lead conferences on behalf of BCG X

Requirements

• Apply software development practices and standards to build robust, maintainable software
• Be actively involved across the software development life cycle
• Guide non-technical teams and consultants using best practices for robust software development
• Optimize and enhance computational efficiency through algorithm and software design improvements
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment with direct client interaction on new features for future product releases
• Collaborate with others to share software design and solution ideas
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity across a breadth of industries and topics
• Students currently pursuing a full-time Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree, graduating between December 2026 and August 2027

Compensation and Location

• Location: Pittsburgh, PA (onsite)
• Salary: USD 110,000 - 190,000 per year
• Worksite expectation: You must live within a reasonable commuting distance of your home office, and be in the office as directed
