Front-End Tracking Engineer
Job Description
We Built It is hiring a Front-End Tracking Engineer to implement and maintain accurate, event-driven tracking across modern front-end applications. This role focuses on ensuring that user interactions, page and API-driven events, and marketing pixels fire correctly, consistently, and in a privacy-compliant way. You will partner with engineering teams and stakeholders across analytics, marketing, and privacy to deliver clean and reliable data.
Responsibilities
- Implement front-end tracking across React, Angular, and JavaScript applications.
- Build and maintain event instrumentation for page loads, clicks, product views, conversions, and dynamic UI interactions.
- Integrate marketing pixels (including TikTok, Meta, Pinterest, Symbiosis, etc.) using standardized event data.
- Validate and debug tracking using browser developer tools and tag management tools.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure tracking is implemented correctly within front-end components.
- Ensure privacy compliance by integrating consent logic and preventing restricted data collection.
- Document tracking requirements, including event definitions, payload structures, and implementation notes.
- Understand and interpret front-end API calls to determine when an API request succeeds or fails.
- Extract required data from successful API responses such as order details, product lists, user state, or transaction IDs.
- Trigger or update data layer events based on API success (for example: Order Placed, Product Listing Displayed, User Authenticated).
- Map API response fields to event payloads for analytics, pixels, and personalization systems.
- Ensure API-driven events fire only when correct data is available and validated for accuracy.
Requirements
- Strong JavaScript knowledge, including DOM events, async/await, promises, and debugging.
- Good knowledge on AEM Cloud.
- Experience with React (components, hooks, lifecycle, event handling).
- Experience with Angular (components, services, observables, routing).
- Understanding of API calls, including response handling.
- Ability to extract and map API data into event payloads.
- Experience with tag managers such as Adobe Launch, GTM, or Tealium.
- Knowledge of analytics platforms like Adobe Analytics, GA4, or AEP.
- Attention to detail for validating event payloads and ensuring accuracy.
- Cross-functional communication skills to work with engineering, analytics, marketing, and privacy teams.
