Future Software Engineer

ImageTrend is building an ongoing talent pipeline as the Software Engineering team prepares for continued growth. This role supports the design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of production software, including the use of AI-enabled tools with validation and verification integrated into engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Use AI-enabled development tools together with strong engineering practices to build production-ready software, partnering with Product, UX, and engineering peers to turn ideas into scalable solutions with appropriate validation and verification.
• Apply technical expertise to challenge and refine solutions by combining research, engineering judgment, and AI-assisted development to meet technical requirements and business goals.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Quality, UX, and other cross-functional partners across the software development lifecycle.
• Use software engineering principles covering architecture, coding standards, automated testing, security, performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Critically evaluate AI-generated and human-authored code rather than accepting generated output at face value, using engineering judgment, code review, automated testing, and other verification methods to identify risks and confirm requirements and engineering standards are met.
• Apply modern development practices and technologies, including source control, automated testing, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and production monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and engineering approaches to improve product capabilities, engineering efficiency, developer productivity, and customer experiences.
• Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues, identifying opportunities to improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and overall quality.
• Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering standards across teams.
• Depending on experience and level, contribute to solution design, technical direction, mentoring, architectural decisions, and complex cross-team initiatives.
• Travel to orientation, industry or company events, or other onsite meetings as required.
• Perform additional duties or tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated software engineering experience building solutions, including practical experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent development tools, preferably within a SaaS or technology organization; experience in public safety, healthcare, or GovTech is considered a plus.
• Working proficiency with C#/.NET, SQL/SQL Server, TypeScript, React or Angular, Python, or comparable modern languages, frameworks, and technologies, with depth of experience varying by role level.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI effectively across coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and software design, while validating AI-assisted outputs before use.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and understand common limitations of generative AI, including incorrect assumptions, fabricated or nonexistent APIs, insecure implementations, and insufficient domain context.
• Ability to structure engineering work so AI-assisted and AI-generated outputs can be independently verified against defined requirements and standards for security, performance, scalability, reliability, and quality.
• Experience with APIs, automated testing, source control, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and production troubleshooting.
• Understanding of software architecture and application design, including security, performance, scalability, reliability, testing, and maintainability principles.
• Strong problem-solving, time management, attention to detail, communication, and technical aptitude.
• Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop practical, scalable solutions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners.
• Demonstrated continuous improvement and growth mindset, including the ability to learn and apply emerging technologies while balancing innovation with sound engineering judgment.
• Ability to maintain discretion when handling proprietary and confidential information.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, collaboration, and team orientation.
• Ability to travel as required, up to 10%.

Compensation

For this full-time role, the annual base salary range is $70,000 to $160,000 USD, plus bonus, benefits, perks, and community gains.

Work Location and Remote Status

Location: Eagan, MN (remote). This role can be performed 100% virtually anywhere in the US while following the Remote Work Policy.
