Responsibilities
- Participate in Program Plan development and updates, contribute to working groups and integrated product teams
- Provide direct support to the shipyard during design, fabrication, installation, and testing of Shipboard Systems equipment
- Coordinate with SPS/SPF Shipyard Leads to ensure coverage for major events and rapid data request and document approvals
- Collaborate with SPS leadership to implement a robust training plan to familiarize engineers with Columbia and Dreadnought plans and processes
- Ensure contractor developed systems are designed, fabricated, tested, and installed properly, meeting SSP level requirements such as TOG and Coordination Drawings
- Provide assurance that product development, qualification, and production acceptance processes align with the project Master Test and Evaluation Program Plan
- Analyze design artifacts, problem reports, process metrics, and field data for trends indicating design, reliability and maintenance or QA issues
- Negotiate differences of opinion and, when necessary, direct compliance to resolve conflicts
Requirements
- Must be a U S Citizen
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment
- Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required
- New employees to the Department of the Navy must successfully pass E-Verify
- Appointment of retired DoD members within 180 days after retirement is subject to 5 U S C 3326
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, may be required; able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required; post-offer testing and random testing may apply
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to NH-02 (GS-11)
- Specialized experience as a professional engineer in system design, program planning and evaluation, requirements analysis, complex electronic systems, and strong oral communication skills
- Education: Professional Engineering degree (08XX) from ABET-accredited college or university, OR a degree with calculus and five of the following six areas (statics and dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics and hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; materials science) or equivalent substitutions as allowed
