General Engineer - Direct Hire - SME

This position is a General Engineer role with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, located in Washington, DC, within the New Car Assessment Program NCAP Division. The incumbent will oversee NCAP activities, perform data analysis, fulfill ACOR duties, and help plan web and database support to enhance consumer information programs.

Role summary

The General Engineer will contribute to the NCAP program by executing defined tasks, collaborating with multiple NHTSA units, analyzing laboratory and real-world crash data, and supporting web and database development to advance consumer information initiatives. The role also requires serving as an Alternate Contracting Officer Representative (ACOR) and coordinating cross-office efforts to resolve program issues.

Responsibilities

• Execute NCAP program tasks to advance division objectives.
• Collaborate with internal NHTSA units to ensure cohesive program execution.
• Monitor progress and report on program status and any issues requiring attention.
• Coordinate with other NHTSA offices to resolve program problems.
• Analyze data from laboratory tests, real-world crash files, and computer simulations.
• Serve as an Alternate Contracting Officer Representative (ACOR).
• Assist in planning web and database development to support consumer information improvements.
