HVAC Control Systems Engineer
Job Description
Join JLL as an HVAC Control Systems Engineer, where you will guide the design reviews, project management, and commissioning of building management systems for HVAC across client sites. This onsite role in Mountain View, California, draws on more than seven years of facilities HVAC and controls experience and a relevant bachelor's degree to deliver reliable, optimized operations.
Responsibilities
- Review infrastructure and tenant-improvement HVAC controls designs to ensure alignment with standards, guidelines, best practices, and stakeholder expectations.
- Provide technical assessment of control sequences, program logic, and corresponding functional performance test plans.
- Conduct field inspections during implementation to confirm scope adherence, identify risks, and flag deviations from approved designs.
- Coordinate with project teams and represent the client on the project team to address stakeholder requirements and resolve issues within the design and implementation schedule.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery and budget alignment.
- Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders to drive project success.
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting to stakeholders.
- Support the mechanical engineering team with controls-specific guidance as needed.
- Identify process deficiencies and implement improvements proactively.
- Verify internal records and databases through ongoing QA/QC activities.
- Prepare and present reporting to stakeholders to drive effective solutions.
- Recommend new processes and changes to existing ones to support continuous improvement.
- Oversee installation and configuration of BMS and BOS hardware and software.
- Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during commissioning and operation.
- Perform controls program clip-in to transition new control systems onto in-ops servers.
- Evaluate operating trends, alarms, and data from the BMS after clip-in to verify performance aligns with design expectations.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related facilities engineering field with relevant controls experience (Associates degree with additional relevant experience may be considered).
- 7+ years of experience in facilities HVAC and control systems.
- Experience with HVAC building automation systems, including development and/or review of operating sequences for equipment and systems.
- Strong knowledge of control theory, HVAC systems, and building automation protocols (BACnet, Modbus).
- Experience with major BMS platforms (Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens).
- Proven ability to organize and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
- Solid fundamentals in HVAC engineering, including trend analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation
Salary range: USD 126,600 to 166,360 per year. Estimated compensation for this position: 126,600.00 – 166,360.00 USD annually.
