HVAC Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and fire alarm systems for a mix of commercial, industrial, and educational assignments.
- Support the development of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs, including fire alarm systems, for diverse projects.
- Perform and review mechanical calculations, equipment selections, and system layouts to meet project goals.
- Oversee hydronic piping design for chilled and hot water, ductwork, and sizing of mechanical equipment.
- Develop and manage project schedules, deliverables, and client expectations to ensure on-time performance.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Coordinate with cross-discipline teams, architects, and clients to align design intent and requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, offering technical oversight and career development support.
- Conduct site visits and field surveys as needed to inform design decisions.
- Assist in proposal development and contribute to department growth initiatives.
- Provide high-quality engineering services for educational, commercial, and industrial clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline required.
- 7+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including fire alarms.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly in reports and specifications.
- Demonstrates pride and effort in all work products and outcomes.
- Willingness to seek guidance when needed to accelerate deliverables and maintain quality.
- Ability to manage both group and individual assignments simultaneously.
- Effective communication, management, and writing abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
