Hydraulic Design Engineer

Goodwin Recruiting seeks a Hydraulic Design Engineer for an on-site role in Raleigh, NC. The position emphasizes hydrology and hydraulic analysis, stormwater and roadway drainage design, and related fieldwork for transportation projects. This role blends analytical design with on-site verification to support drainage solutions across a range of infrastructure initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, design, develop, and provide technical direction for project scopes
• Perform hydrology and hydraulic analyses for the design and construction of transportation projects
• Design stormwater management systems and ponds
• Provide fieldwork assistance to verify existing site conditions
• Execute all aspects of roadway drainage design including conveyance systems, stormwater management, erosion control, and outfall analysis for transportation projects
• Plan and design hydrologic and hydraulic improvements for roadway and drainage projects, including stormwater management, roadway pipes, ditch drainage, water quality BMPs, watersheds, rivers, streams, estuaries, lakes, bridge hydraulics, culvert hydraulics, and erosion and sediment control

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• PE license is preferred
• Minimum of 5+ years of transportation hydraulic design experience
• Strong working knowledge of MicroStation
• Soil erosion and sedimentation control design experience
• Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage, and HEC-RAS
• Working knowledge of the FHWA Hydraulic Design Manual
• Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and SUDA is a plus
