Job Description

Huitt-Zollars is seeking a full-time Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer/Project Manager for the Phoenix, Arizona office (onsite) to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and design for public infrastructure and flood control projects. The role prefers candidates licensed as a Professional Engineer in Arizona with at least five years of drainage engineering experience; a PE license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using models such as HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, and FLO-2D.
  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting documentation.
  • Investigate jurisdictional drainage requirements for incorporation into design and construction drawings.
  • Oversee production of drainage design and construction drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Manage data and prepare exhibits with ArcGIS and QGIS.
  • Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Mentor EIT staff on hydrologic and hydraulic theory and practice.
  • Conduct site visits and document observations.
  • Create and coordinate graphic materials for presentations and project documents.
  • Adhere to Huitt-Zollars' business processes and quality initiatives (HZ QMS).
  • Collaborate with project managers to foster teamwork and project success.
  • Ensure quality control measures are applied on projects and daily operations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of duties, responsibilities, and technical skills.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery and performance of projects, completing assignments on time and within budget.
  • Propose and implement more efficient approaches to tasks and workflows.
  • Prepare and follow Project Framework Instructions and work plans; assist Principal with staffing on projects.
  • Review project reports and metrics to monitor progress and budget; lead projects to meet profit, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction goals.

Requirements

  • Professional Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Minimum five years of drainage engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail with thoroughness in work.
  • Solid knowledge of construction means, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and project specifications.

Physical Requirements
