Job Description
Join Green Valley Manufacturing of Illinois, Inc for an onsite hydraulics and pneumatics engineering role in Decatur, IL. You will design, specify, implement, test, and optimize hydraulic and pneumatic systems for industrial equipment, collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing teams to deliver fluid power solutions, and support motion control integration, on-site commissioning, tuning, and training.

Responsibilities
- Partner with mechanical engineers to design, specify, and implement hydraulic and pneumatic components, circuits, and power units for equipment applications.
- Develop and refine hydraulic and pneumatic systems to boost efficiency, reliability, and overall equipment performance while meeting budget constraints.
- Select and specify pumps, valves, cylinders, manifolds, filters, fittings, and control devices, sourcing and evaluating components as needed.
- Create detailed schematics, layouts, and documentation for shop assembly, troubleshooting, and user manuals.
- Produce bills of materials, component specifications, and technical documentation to support manufacturing and procurement.
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and tune hydraulic and pneumatic systems to verify performance and compliance with standards.
- Conduct mechanical function tests and equipment calibration to confirm operation and system integration.
- Assist with integrating and troubleshooting motion control systems and positioning applications in hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, assembly, and field service teams on fluid power systems.
- Occasionally travel to customer facilities to assist with commissioning, tuning, startup, troubleshooting, and training on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, engineering practices, and quality requirements.
- Engage in continuous improvement efforts focused on system performance, reliability, and cost reduction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial or equipment manufacturing setting.
- Experience with motion control systems and their integration in industrial equipment is preferred.
- Proficiency using hydraulic and pneumatic schematic software and CAD tools.
- Strong knowledge of fluid power principles, system controls, component selection, and motion control fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and assembly documentation.
- Experience performing system testing, diagnostics, and performance tuning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities plus effective communication skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer facilities for commissioning, troubleshooting, and training support.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety practices for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with PLC controlled hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic controls.
- Hands-on experience commissioning and starting up industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with automated motion control applications.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
