Information Security Engineer, Product Security Engineering

Google is seeking an Information Security Engineer for Product Security Engineering to help build and maintain a safer operating environment for users and developers. In this role, you will partner with software engineers to protect network boundaries, harden systems and devices, and move security improvements from discovery through mitigation across Google Cloud.

Role focus

• Strengthen security through reviews, vulnerability research, and secure protocol or system design.
• Contribute hands-on testing, fuzzing, and analysis to identify and address security flaws.
• Support defense in depth and security by default through both short and longer term engagements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security reviews, research and reproduce vulnerabilities, design secure protocols and systems, and write tests and fuzzers.
• Review and develop secure operational practices while providing security guidance for engineers and support staff.
• Review designs and drive defense in depth and security by default through one-time reviews and longer-term engagements.
• Find vulnerabilities using techniques such as reverse engineering, fuzzing, and static analysis.
• Respond to vulnerabilities with reproduction, variant analysis, mitigations, and hardening, with an emphasis on security strategy for Google Cloud.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
• 2+ years of experience in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
• 2+ years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
• Experience identifying and mitigating network security risks using threat modeling and other risk identification techniques.
• Experience in application security, cryptography, network security, or systems security.
• Experience with C++ dynamic analysis and static code analysis.
• Expertise in security assessments, vulnerability management, and security research.

Compensation

USD 147,000 - 210,000 per year.
