Job Description

Allied Staff Augmentation Partners, Inc. is seeking a Digital Instrument and Controls Engineer to support a nuclear power plant digital modernization initiative. This onsite contract role focuses on replacing legacy analog control systems with modern Distributed Control System (DCS) platforms across both safety-related and non-safety-related upgrades.

Role Overview

In this position, you will perform digital modification engineering for nuclear plant control system upgrades. The work includes design, procurement support, implementation, testing, and commissioning activities in a highly regulated environment. You will also provide technical support during outages, including installation, troubleshooting, and post-modification testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct digital modification engineering for nuclear plant control system upgrades.
  • Support full lifecycle activities including design, procurement, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Create and review engineering deliverables such as design and procurement specifications, engineering change packages, and system requirements and functional design documents.
  • Review and validate OEM and vendor design documentation, test plans, and implementation packages.
  • Provide technical support during outages, including system installation, troubleshooting, and post-modification testing.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and vendor teams.
  • Identify and resolve design issues by providing technical recommendations and solutions.
  • Ensure all work complies with plant procedures, NRC regulations, and applicable industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline).
  • 10+ years of I&C design engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with DCS hardware and software modifications in industrial or power generation environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and review engineering change packages, design and procurement specifications, test plans, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex technical issue analysis and resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-performance environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with digital upgrades in nuclear power plants.
  • Familiarity with Westinghouse Ovation DCS implementations.
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements and guidelines, including digital upgrade standards (e.g., NISP guidance) and 10 CFR 73.54 Cyber Security Rule.
  • Experience developing and executing post-modification test plans (PMT).
  • Prior qualification as a modification/design engineer at a nuclear facility.

Compensation and Location

Location: Tonopah, AZ (onsite).
Pay: USD 75 - 100 per hourly.
Job Type: Contract.
