Java/AWS/Agentic Senior Lead Software Engineer
Job Description
Senior Lead Software Engineer in JPMorganChase's Payments Trust and Safety Technology group, guiding agile teams to build secure, scalable fraud-protection systems using AWS and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Aurora Postgres, ECS, and EKS
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment with CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK
- Produce secure, production-grade code, and perform code reviews and debugging for peers
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring remediation to enhance overall software and system stability
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance and reliability within the AWS environment
- Enforce security and compliance through IAM policies, encryption, and ongoing monitoring
- Document technical solutions and support audits and regulatory reviews
- Lead communities of practice to promote adoption of new and leading-edge cloud technologies
- Drive adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices across teams, establishing measurable validation standards and promoting reusable patterns within the SDLC/TLM toolchain
- Apply SDLC tools and approved AI-assisted development capabilities to maximize automation value at scale
- Deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines with emphasis on code optimization, performance tuning, and engineering best practices
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in Software Engineering with 5+ years of applied experience
- Proven leadership in deploying enterprise authorized AI-assisted development tools, with ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Strong understanding of responsible AI usage in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and resiliency and security considerations; experience coaching senior engineers on compliant usage patterns
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
- Experience with S3, Aurora Postgres, ECS, EKS, RDS, Lambda, Glue, ALB/NLB and serverless architectures
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, and related technologies
- Strong automation and continuous delivery skills across the full Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced grasp of agile practices including CI/CD, application resiliency, security, and Kafka for event streaming
- Deep knowledge of the financial services IT landscape
- Experience pairing with AI-assisted coding tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate prototyping
- Proven ability to build high-volume, low-latency, high-throughput transactional systems
