Lab Engineer / Project Leader (UL/CSA Certification)
Job Description
In Buford, Georgia, this on-site Lab Engineer and Project Leader role drives UL and CSA certification initiatives and oversees project testing under general supervision. Work is reviewed by a assigning Engineer or Department Manager to ensure adherence to standards and project goals. This position is well-suited for an early-career engineer who brings hands-on testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead moderately complex UL and CSA certification projects, coordinating testing activities and documentation.
- Assist the Senior Project Leader on more intricate certification initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Lab Supervisor and technicians to manage project tasks and ensure smooth execution.
- Obtain UL and CSA certifications to participate in UL/CSA data submittal programs and approvals.
- Support the development and assembly of test fixtures as needed for testing programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project engineers, technicians and office staff.
- Ability to engage with UL/CSA engineers and technicians and build productive working relationships.
- Capability to diagnose complex testing or fixture-building problems by defining issues, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to assess situations and keep projects on schedule.
- Ability to analyze UL/CSA standards and apply them to Makita's power tool and outdoor power equipment lines.
