Lead Software Engineer

Deloitte’s Government & Public Services (GPS) team works at the intersection of people, ideas, technology, and outcomes to support mission-focused federal, state, and local government clients, as well as public higher education institutions. In this role, you will lead delivery for AI & Data initiatives on secure client engagements, taking solutions from requirements through prototypes and into production full stack web applications.

As a Lead Software Engineer II on the AI & Data team, you will guide a team of engineers and data scientists in architecting, building, and deploying AI-enabled applications designed to operate in secure client environments. The work includes technical leadership, supervision of junior contributors, and collaboration with program leadership, clients, and vendors across multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead application development for a team of approximately 10 developers, engineers, and data scientists supporting mission-focused client work
• Gather requirements, architect solutions, build prototypes, and support the transition of full stack applications into production environments
• Develop and oversee web applications using ReactJS, Python, NoSQL, Vector, and graph database technologies
• Collaborate with program leadership, clients, and other vendors to advise on technical approaches and deliver solutions across multiple concurrent projects
• Supervise junior team members and help drive delivery for AI-enabled applications deployed in secure client environments

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Required: 7+ years of experience in software development using ReactJS, Python, NoSQL, Vector or Graph Databases, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Required: Experience with API design including REST, API versioning, validation, pagination, and error handling
• Required: Experience leading application development teams
• Required: Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
• Required: Active TS/SCI security clearance required
• Required: Ability to work 100% onsite in Tampa, FL
• Required: Ability to travel up to 10%, on average
• Preferred: Experience supporting government clients in secure delivery environments
• Preferred: Experience developing generative artificial intelligence-enabled applications
• Preferred: Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP)
• Preferred: Knowledge of Application Security (OAuth 2.0/2.1, OpenID Connect, MFA, secure session handling, and JWT risks)
• Preferred: Experience with CI/CD and release engineering
• Preferred: Experience translating requirements into prototypes and production-ready solutions
• Preferred: Experience collaborating with data scientists and cross-functional technical teams
• Preferred: Experience leading multiple concurrent technical projects
