Lead Software Engineer JAVA Backend

Lead Software Engineer (Java Backend) role in JPMorgan Chase Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) supporting trading technology initiatives in Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with Investment Teams, Traders, and Portfolio Managers to connect technical delivery with business needs
• Operate in a fast-paced environment on a high-profile Asset Management platform
• Work in an agile setup with regular production deployments and responsiveness to evolving business scale and needs
• Shape engineering direction by influencing peers and project decision-makers on the use of leading-edge technologies
• Provide technical guidance and direction for internal engineering teams, contractors, and vendors
• Drive decisions that affect product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
• Act as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas
• Support the engineering community by advocating firmwide Software Development Life Cycle frameworks, tools, and practices
• Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug code written by others

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts plus 5+ years of applied experience
• Excellent hands-on programming experience with Core Java
• Experience implementing TDD and BDD, with a focus on using mocking frameworks for effective testing
• Understanding of IoC frameworks in Java, including native Spring
• Knowledge of next-generation messaging and streaming technologies: Kafka, IBM MQ, Solace, or Ignite
• Strong grasp of engineering principles including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (cloud, AI, ML, etc.)
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
