Mainframe Technical Support Engineer
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join a leading client in Plano, TX. This onsite role centers on Mainframe Storage Management and focuses on delivering expert technical support for complex issues while helping customers achieve their desired business outcomes through precise guidance and timely communication.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for complex issues involving Mainframe Storage Management software.
- Ensure customers achieve their desired business outcomes.
- Deliver a superior customer experience by exhibiting technical expertise and timely, clear communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe operations or system programming (z/os, z/vm, or z/vse)
- Knowledge of Mainframe technologies such as JCL, ISPF, REXX, USS, SMP/E, zOSMF, etc.
- Expertise as a Storage Architect, Engineer, or Administrator
- Competence with disk, virtual tape and physical tape technologies (examples DFHSM, DFSMS, RMM; CA 1 Flexible Storage, Vantage, Disk Backup and Restore, Allocate)
- Competence with utilities including IEBCOPY, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, etc.
