Job Description
Join Fiber Materials on site in Biddeford, Maine, where the Manufacturing Engineer supports current production systems to boost safety, quality, reliability, cost efficiency, and cycle time in carbon carbon composites manufacturing using high temperature equipment. The role encompasses designing new equipment, performing root cause analysis, and applying Lean and Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with Production and Maintenance teams and support a 7x24 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
- Design, specify, and develop new equipment for future production systems
- Perform root cause analysis for failure investigations and data analysis tasks, making data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot and improve equipment and processes using Lean/Six Sigma tools and MRL standards
- Utilize engineering tools such as BOM refinement, Design Reviews, PFMEAs, IQ/OQ, Value Stream Maps, GD&T, and related methods
- Provide technical support for the 7x24 manufacturing facility in assigned areas of responsibility
- Research, organize, and author engineering documents including ECOs, manufacturing procedures and manuals, and initial production travelers
- Support non-conformance programs and implement preventive actions
- Prepare periodic reports or presentations for management and customers on specific projects
- Ensure adherence to health and safety policies
- Apply quality standards to meet certification requirements in plant applications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- 5 years of manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of process equipment operation principles, methods, and process capability
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong technical problem solving and project coordination skills
- Strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail
- MS Office proficiency
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to work hands-on in a production setting when needed

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial tools and equipment
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience with GD&T and engineering drawing approval standards
- Experience with various forms of industrial process equipment such as pressure vessels, pumps, fluid systems, ovens, cranes, lifts, robotics, etc
- Background in aerospace or high temperature composites, textiles, or industrial engineering systems
- Experience in thermal processing
