Job Description

Responsibilities
- Establish and apply optimized methods for manufacturing HVAC coils, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Collaborate with design engineering and support teams to introduce new products and shape designs for manufacturability.
- Oversee projects that relocate existing equipment within cross-functional teams.
- Design efficient workstation layouts to support lean assembly processes.
- Enhance ergonomics in production operations.
- Support lean logistics flow and material handling across the facility.
- Promote continuous improvement grounded in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Prepare capital equipment requests and the accompanying documentation.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives to achieve target production costs.
- Create manufacturing routings and conduct time studies for production management and standard costing.
- Design weld and assembly fixtures using AutoCAD to ensure repeatable, efficient assembly.
- Select operating tools that are both efficient and cost-effective for assembly.
- Assist operations management in resolving production and quality issues via root-cause analysis.
- Prepare project status updates and review progress with the Director of Operations.
- Plan production capacity, staffing models, and standard production playbooks.
- Create operator standard work and detailed work instructions.
- Lead Continuous Improvement workshops to teach lean manufacturing fundamentals.
- Improve productivity and foster a Lean culture across the organization.
- Deliver training on the Nortek Production System.
- Oversee the rollout of the Nortek Production System Level 1-4 meetings and communication processes.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to plan and execute Oklahoma business strategy.
- Monitor production efficiency and report issues to the Director of Operations.
- Address safety concerns related to ergonomics and standard work practices.
- Increase equipment availability by implementing Total Productive Maintenance.
- Optimize facility layout, line balancing, and process flow to boost efficiency.
- Implement 5S and visual management to streamline operations.
- Establish Kanban pull systems for material flow.
- Analyze and improve material flow, presentation, and handling between processes.
- Conduct Value Stream Mapping to identify and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Promote one-piece flow and standardized work across Oklahoma facilities.
- Define process flows, cell layouts, staffing plans, material flow, and best practices for new and existing processes.
- Read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings, then translate to team members.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of dimensional tolerances and their interactions with other parts.
- Serve as subject matter expert on fabrication to assembly manufacturing steps.
- Develop training materials and effectively teach processes or techniques.
- Assist in coordinating new product introductions, ensuring tooling and production documentation are ready.
Requirements
- Experience planning and coordinating new program launches.
- Experience coordinating special projects, purchasing, and justification of capital equipment.
- Experience creating process flows and work standards.
- Experience performing manufacturing cost calculations and leading cost-reduction projects.
- Hands-on capabilities in prototyping, fabricating metal parts, and testing.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and overall computer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and evaluate mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and AutoCAD drawing software.
