Mechanical Engineer, Data Center Engineering
Job Description
This on-site role is based in Seattle, WA with a salary range of USD 116,800 to 160,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement energy efficient mechanical systems for data centers
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop innovative cooling solutions and sustainability initiatives
- Leverage BIM and Revit for modeling, documentation and coordination
- Produce comprehensive documentation for mechanical designs and operational procedures
- Drive continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization
- Guide project teams through planning, execution and commissioning phases
- Initiate and lead projects with broad impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation
- Decompose complex problems into clear, actionable solutions
- Collaborate with professionals from other disciplines, cultures and countries
- Communicate clearly with varying levels of technical ability and background
- Prepare detailed design specifications, white papers, wiring schematics, diagrams and reports
- Safeguard implementation of the Global Mechanical Basis of Design with ongoing auditing
- Drive standardization across data center mechanical designs
- Develop strategic solutions that meet quality and budget requirements
- Capture requirements and translate goals into well defined, testable specifications
- Define project scope and provide technical support during innovation and R&D initiatives
- Coordinate with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify suitable mechanical equipment
- Review and approve critical equipment submittals including vendor witness tests
- Provide technical support for global Large Scale Events, including deep dives and mitigation recommendations
- Maintain and host technical mechanical forums to foster collaboration on data center systems
- Mentor for the broader Data Center Engineering community
- Apply creative, out of the box thinking to solutions
Requirements
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit and BIM 360
- 6+ years of design, construction, operations or facility maintenance experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with building codes and regulations for the relevant region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production
- Experience reading, interpreting and creating construction drawings, specifications and submittal documents
