Job Description

Leidos is seeking a Mid-Level Full Stack Software Engineer to support the Chinook Program for an Intelligence Community customer. This onsite role in Chantilly, VA centers on designing, developing, and deploying modern software across the full stack within an Agile and DevSecOps environment, delivering secure solutions that advance GEOINT capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and ship software solutions that support the customer’s GEOINT mission.
  • Participate in agile development cycles, contributing to daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Build and maintain secure, containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and user-facing interfaces with modern frameworks such as React, Node.js, Flask, or Spring Boot.
  • Collaborate with mission users and product managers to refine requirements and enhance user experience.
  • Support DevSecOps pipelines and ensure code meets security and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in code reviews and mentor junior developers as needed.
  • Address tasks as prioritized by the team product owner.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship is required for the contract.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 4–8 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2–6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to successfully pass a Polygraph examination.
  • Proficiency in the following areas:
    • Web technologies: HTML, CSS, JSON, Ajax, REST APIs
    • Object-oriented programming: Python, Java, or JavaScript
    • Advanced programming: Go
    • Front-end and back-end frameworks: React, Angular, Vue.js, jQuery, Spring Boot, Django, Node.js, Flask, or Svelte
    • Cloud development: AWS, Azure, or similar platforms
    • Relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
    • Operating systems: Windows, Linux
    • Version control: Git
    • Solid understanding of modern software design patterns and coding standards
    • Experience architecting, developing, and delivering complex production software
    • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and agile tools (JIRA, Confluence)
    • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud or similar, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Understanding secure coding practices and government accreditation processes (RMF, STIGs)
    • Strong motivation to learn new languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Frontend development experience focusing on UI/UX.
  • NoSQL database experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
  • Multi-cloud exposure including AWS, IBM, Google, Azure, and Oracle.
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, SQS, SNS, EC2, CloudFormation, and RDS.
  • Previous work on customer contracts or within the Intelligence Community.
  • Familiarity with geospatial tools and standards including GeoServer, PostGIS, OGC APIs, and ESRI ArcGIS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Developer, Security+, SAFe Practitioner, or similar.
