Navy Senior Systems Engineer

A senior engineer focused on energy storage, supporting the United States Navy in Crane, Indiana with design, development, and integration of shipboard power and energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

• Characterize large-scale Li-ion battery performance criteria, develop failure modes, plan tests, create fire mitigation and suppression concepts, prototype battery-agnostic containment solutions, and evaluate the viability of other energy storage technologies.
• Provide engineering support and requirements development for electrical, mechanical, and system controls, including mitigation options for the system and its interfaces within the integrated shipboard environment.
• Assist with engineering investigations of power and energy systems, energy storage enclosures and related processes, applying failure and materials analysis methods, including non-destructive and destructive analysis for lithium-ion and silver-zinc energy storage systems and their enclosures and mitigation systems.
• Review commercially developed studies, analyses, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government.
• Support DoW acquisition and acquisition management elements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with five or more years of professional experience
• Experience with DoW Systems Engineering processes
• Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; can start once interim clearance is granted. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process
• US Citizenship required

Description

• SAIC seeks a Senior Energy Storage Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.
• The Engineer (Systems or Electrical) will provide engineering design, development, and systems integration support for DoW power and energy storage shipboard system acquisition programs. This includes developing program documentation for systems development, testing, implementation, and lifecycle management for existing and new power and energy systems.

• Experience preparing documentation for acquisition and lifecycle processes to support DoW systems
• Experience with battery management and control systems, power supply systems, energy storage systems, batteries, and related systems

• Experience with Directed Energy
