(NPI) Engineer – HVAC Air Handling Units (AHU)

AIT Global Inc is seeking an experienced (NPI) Engineer focused on HVAC Air Handling Unit (AHU) launches for both custom and standardized commercial and industrial air handler configurations. This onsite role in Owatonna, MN supports system and digital design ownership, cross-functional coordination, and readiness for testing and validation to meet program timelines and cost targets.

Responsibilities

• System Design: Select components based on applicable regulatory requirements and target product specifications.
• Early Development Collaboration: Work with Electrical and Thermal Design teams during initial development stages.
• CAE Partnership: Collaborate with the CAE team to support digital evaluation and optimization of the system.
• Digital Design: Design and optimize sheet metal enclosures, structural frames, coil arrangements, and fan assemblies while minimizing changes to the existing value chain ecosystem.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between Design Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Facilities, and Production Operations to achieve product launch timelines and target BOM costs.
• Testing & Validation: Coordinate unit readiness for testing and lead communication with the test agency.
• Pilot Builds: Lead phase-gate reviews, prototype builds, and pilot runs for new AHU configurations, including validation of process capabilities, cycle times, and line balances.
• Supply Chain & Supplier Quality: Partner with supply chain teams to evaluate supplier capabilities for specialized components including fans, coils, dampers, VFDs, and controls; support PPAP activities.
• Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with UL 60335-2-40: 2025 and ASHRAE requirements.

What You Will Own

• System design and assembly design for new AHU configurations.
• Buy/Make Ready BOM planning, along with drawings and technical documents.
• Engineering deliverables that support safety, energy-efficiency expectations (ASHRAE/AHRI), and cost and quality standards for new HVAC equipment.

Pay

USD 45.00 per hour
