OSP Engineer

The OSP Engineer will design, build, and maintain FiberTel's fiber plant infrastructure in Springville, Utah. The role centers on route analysis for underground and aerial deployments, creation of engineering plans and BOMs, and coordination with permitters, project managers, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Create construction plans for specific projects
• Produce design adjustments as needed
• Communicate with customers on project design
• Coordinate with Permitter and Project Manager
• Review and recommend improved project procedures
• Create and tabulate a construction BOM (bill of materials)
• Obtain measurements and documentation necessary for permits
• Communicate project information and updates to management
• Perform work utilizing required tools such as measurement wheel, height stick, PED wrench, calculator, manhole hook, and others

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• General knowledge of underground and overhead utilities
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• High attention to detail
• Experience with Auto-CAD (Preferred)
• 1-3 years of telecommunication experience (Preferred)

About This Role

FiberTel is seeking an OSP Engineer to support our Springville, Utah market.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time hourly position with an expectation of at least 40 hours per week. The role operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outdoor environment will vary in terrain, traffic, urban or rural settings. The role may occasionally expose the employee to natural gas and electrical hazards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours)
• Tolerance for work in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to speak and hear safety instructions on the worksite
• Regularly lift up to 75 pounds
• Physical activities include standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
