Job Description

The Global Partnerships Data Engineer role supports Andreessen Horowitz by owning key data infrastructure, systems, and automation that enable Global Partnerships activities. This position combines independent execution, cross-functional leadership, and a focus on translating ambiguous business needs into scalable pipelines and actionable insights.

Role Overview

The role owns and advances critical data infrastructure, including Global Partnerships core datasets and data pipelines. You will act as a technical and strategic thought partner to Global Partnerships and adjacent teams, guiding data practices, automation, and scalable process design while maintaining data precision and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ownership of critical systems, including Global Partnerships core datasets and data pipelines, and advise on data practices, automation, and scalable process design.
  • Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure and reliable pipelines that connect Global Partnerships systems and reduce manual work and error rates.
  • Maintain high standards for data accuracy by monitoring and resolving discrepancies across multiple platforms.
  • Evaluate and implement tools and integrations to increase visibility, connectivity, and decision-making.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale AI tools and agentic workflows that reduce manual effort, then support organization-wide adoption through training, documentation, and change management.
  • Lead automation and process development to improve operational scale, focusing on accuracy, reliability, and speed.
  • Serve as an AI thought partner by staying current on emerging tools and applying them to high-leverage improvements for LP-facing and internal processes.
  • Build visualizations and quantitative analyses that deliver insights on fund and investment performance, including projected exit scenarios, liquidity, and follow-on decisions.
  • Develop fluency with the firm’s portfolio company information database and manipulate and analyze data to generate insights.
  • Refine and calibrate portfolio performance analyses to ensure they remain current and relevant.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience; experience in data analytics or data engineering is preferable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or another technical field preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a critical eye for written prose and chart, table, and spreadsheet quality, including comfort tracking changing data and facts across multiple documents.
  • Strong writing skills and effective written communication.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining data workflows, automations, or integrations using Python, JavaScript, or a comparable programming language.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous, cross-functional projects with substantial autonomy and influence across technical and business teams.
  • Experience owning or administering complex data pipelines or other critical business systems, with an emphasis on data completeness, governance, and integration.
  • Low ego and high empathy, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

  • Salary: USD 269,000 - 314,000 per year
