Indiana Michigan Power Company presents a Plant Engineer Sr - Engineer Prin role in Oregon, OH, on-site. This position offers a competitive salary range of $98,993 to $151,132 per year (Compensation Grade SP20-008), plus a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering theory to solve well defined problems or perform analyses under guidance from higher level engineers.
  • Assist higher level engineers with portions of more complex problems and analyses.
  • Maintain a fundamental understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations for the area of assignment.
  • Familiarize yourself with equipment, materials, systems and business processes pertinent to the role.
  • Coordinate work activities of others to resolve routine engineering tasks.
  • Follow established policies and procedures; work is generally supervised to ensure alignment with guidelines.
  • Complete assigned work and participate in coaching from higher level staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, sharing information and seeking assistance as needed.
  • Demonstrate willingness and capability to assume leadership roles when appropriate.
  • Contribute input to routine project planning documents related to scheduling and understand CPM, PERT and flow charts for budgeting and planning.
  • Monitor project status and recommend actions to keep work on track.
  • Prepare cost estimates using established standards.
  • Develop an understanding of the workflow for routine engineering projects and deliver work according to plans and schedules set by higher level staff.
  • Actively seek information to understand engineering problems and applicable solution techniques within the area of responsibility.
  • Apply basic analytical techniques to resolve routine technical problems and demonstrate initiative to propose new ideas and approaches.
  • Assist in preparing reports and technical papers; assimilate information and instructions quickly.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and present ideas effectively; listen and ask for clarification as needed.
  • Build a network with peers to share information and encourage cooperation, understanding the agendas of others and developing constructive relationships.
  • Show the ability to be a team player and relate to colleagues in an open, friendly, and sincere manner.
  • Know which decisions you are authorized to make and develop decision making skills under guidance while contributing to team decisions.
  • Demonstrate a customer-focused mindset, aiming to satisfy internal and external stakeholders who rely on the unit's work.

  • Develop a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the department.

Requirements

  • Typically four or more years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program; or two years of related engineering experience with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred.
  • Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology may satisfy the degree requirement if they obtain a certified PE license.
  • One option is a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET accredited program; confirmation is required to ensure PE alignment with regulatory standards.
  • VP level or higher may waive the degree requirement for non-ABET accredited programs.
