Plant Project Engineer
Job Description
Oversee and control plant projects from scoping through closure, ensuring on-time delivery within budget while meeting safety, quality, reliability, and customer-satisfaction goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead expense and turnaround initiatives from scoping and funding through detailed engineering, procurement, startup, commissioning, and final documentation to closure.
- Assess plant infrastructure and equipment to determine needs for repair, replacement, or improvement.
- Work with the procurement team to assemble contractor and vendor packages.
- Maintain project budgets and escalate any exceptions to the plant manager.
- Generate monthly status reports and KPI dashboards for each project.
- Create, submit, and track purchase requisitions in SAP.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, codes, and industry best practices.
- Provide support for major capital projects as required.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required for this position.
- Minimum five years of experience managing non-capital projects, potentially gained as a project engineer, construction manager, process engineer, or project manager.
- Experience in the chemical and/or oil and gas industries is preferred.
- Capability to craft and promote ideas that improve cost, schedule, and execution is essential.
- Experience drafting specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and engaging vendors effectively is essential.
- Familiarity with typical industrial construction methods, applicable codes, and OSHA standards is expected.
- Proficiency with SAP and at least one common project management software tool is required.
- Willingness to relocate or reside within 50 miles of Borger, TX is required.
