Boeing in Wichita, Kansas is seeking an Industrial Engineer at the associate or mid-level to refine aerostructure manufacturing through thoughtful workflow design, capacity planning, and data-driven improvements. The role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to boost production efficiency, optimize product flow, and deliver measurable throughput gains on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Workflow Optimization: Evaluates and designs operation sequences and workflows to improve efficiency in plant facilities, equipment layouts, and material handling systems.
- Product Flow: Defines methods to maximize facility and personnel utilization while refining product flow using Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
- Continuous Improvement: Conducts studies on cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and waste elimination employing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma approaches.
- Work Measurement: Performs time and motion studies to develop, maintain, and deliver accurate time standards and standard work instructions for the shop floor.
- Capacity & Balancing: Applies analytical skills and simulation tools for capacity analysis, equipment utilization, constraint management (Theory of Constraints), and line balancing.
- Safety Integration: Partners with EHS to implement ergonomic and accident-prevention measures through workplace design and oversees technical training programs for production staff.
- Facilities Planning: Works with facilities engineers on macro and micro layout planning, facility design, and the deployment of 5S methodologies.
- Data Analytics: Develops and monitors KPIs for labor efficiency, machine utilization, and production throughput to guide data-driven decisions.
- Advanced Excel Skills: Demonstrates expertise with advanced Excel features including Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA/Macros, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and dynamic dashboards for data analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program
- 2+ years of related industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Pay & Benefits
- Summary Pay Range - Associate (Level 2): $71,650 - $109,800
- Summary Pay Range - Mid-Level (Level 3): $85,600 - $131,200
- Kansas Tax Credit: Potential eligibility for a $5,000 state aviation tax credit for up to five years (as part of Spirit AeroSystems’ Kansas program)
