Job Description

Plating Engineer will support the plating department's daily production activities and drive process control, quality adherence, and ongoing improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and refine production methods and process controls to meet quality targets while optimizing costs, using moderate decision-making.
  • Collaborate with chemical technicians on bath control testing, bath maintenance, chemical additions, wastewater treatment, and the DI water system.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives, including new chemistries or equipment, and establish timelines to keep projects on track.
  • Create and maintain written standards for production processes.
  • Direct or perform analysis of samples that require specialized training.
  • Apply SPC systems to production and analytical operations and act on trends observed in the data.
  • Own internal and external root cause analysis and corrective action procedures to maintain quality standards.
  • Understand customer and industry specifications, ensure compliance, and support internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate with other departments to align production, quality, and productivity goals with company objectives.
  • Meet or exceed quality standards and actively work to minimize error rates.
  • Enforce company policies and safety practices to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or an appropriate science field; other technical disciplines may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with electroless and/or electrolytic nickel and gold plating in a manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen is a plus.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to practical processes.
