PLC Controls Engineer/Programmer
Job Description
PEAK Technical Services Inc. is seeking a mid- to upper-level PLC Controls Engineer/Programmer for an on-site role in Horsham, Pennsylvania. This position centers on researching, designing, testing, and managing electrical control systems, backed by a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and 3 to 10 years of related experience.
Compensation
Annual salary: USD 115,000 - 125,000
Responsibilities
- Project management of pre-engineered / designed systems
- Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations
- Confers with Production Coordinator, Layout Supervisor & Wiring Supervisor, to resolve problems regarding building of assigned controls systems
- Interface with client to resolve production and design issues
- Lead project-based client interaction (kickoff meetings, design reviews, weekly project status meetings)
- Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
- Reviews schematics with customer's representatives to answer questions or resolve design concerns
- Uses AutoCAD, ERP system (Sage business system), and Microsoft Office products to perform engineering and project management tasks
- Designs electrical schematics and general layout drawings from client's specifications
- Stays current with industry trends and new technologies
- Programs HMI and PLCs on various size projects
- Configures VFDs and controllers per client specifications
- Assists in flashing firmware and configuring PLCs and HMI when requested
- Configure / setup computer systems with applicable software
- Perform point-to-point and functional power-up testing of control panels
- Performs or assists E3 engineer with functional testing of engineered systems
- Assists Sales Department in selecting components and estimating engineering scope on quotations
Requirements
- Advanced understanding of electrical circuitry and schematic diagrams
- Experience with project management of pre-engineered / designed systems
- Ability to coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations
- Capability to interface with clients to resolve production and design issues
- Experience leading project-based client interactions, including kickoff meetings, design reviews, and weekly status updates
- Proven ability to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and testing meet specifications and customer requirements
- Experience reviewing schematics with customer representatives to address questions and design concerns
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Sage ERP, and Microsoft Office for engineering and project management tasks
- Design experience for electrical schematics and general layout drawings from client specifications
- Commitment to staying current with industry trends and new technologies
- Program HMI and PLCs across varied project sizes
- Configure VFDs and controllers per client specifications
- Assist with flashing firmware and configuring PLCs and HMI as requested
- Configure / setup computer systems with required software
- Conduct point-to-point and functional testing of control panels
- Support E3 engineer with functional testing of engineered systems
- Assist Sales in selecting components and estimating engineering scope for quotations
