Power and Control Systems Design Engineer
Job Description
Canfield Engineering & Integration LLC offers a collaborative, hybrid role in Houston, TX with a competitive salary and a solid benefits package. You will lead EI&C design efforts for municipal and industrial clients, shaping power system studies, P&ID EI&C content, and control system documentation while coordinating with the design team, project managers, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Specify electrical equipment, instrumentation, and controls to monitor and operate mechanical, process, and electrical systems
- Develop power system studies and the EI&C portion of P&IDs
- Create logic diagrams, sequences of operations, and wiring diagrams
- Prepare instrument indexes and design control panels
- Specify instruments and control valves and design PLC/HMI architectures with Ethernet and remote I/O networks
- Interpret applicable codes, procedures, standards, and specifications
- Coordinate with other design disciplines and provide field assistance during installation, startup, and operation
- Perform equipment inspections as needed and travel to support project execution
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 3+ years of design experience applying the NEC
- Ability to lead industrial facilities design and construction projects
- Ability to quickly understand network layouts and I/O diagrams
- AutoCAD or Revit experience is a plus
- PLC and HMI programming experience is a plus
- P.E. licensure is a plus; CEI supports licensure efforts for designers
- Mechanical or chemical process knowledge is a plus
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- AutoCAD experience: 2 years (Required) in addition to the NEC experience above
