Principal Highway Engineer

Responsibilities

• Capable of supervising Engineer/Junior Engineer level staff.
• Serve as an integral member of a multi-discipline design team, engaging across disciplines necessary to advance transportation and civil projects for NJDOT and County clients.
• Pursue a career path focused on technical leadership and/or project management aligned with individual strengths and interests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (BSCE).
• New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to deliver transportation and civil projects, providing technical oversight to engineering staff. The NV5 New Jersey office features experienced professionals who are committed to training and supporting Technical Management and/or Project Management career goals.
• Prepare roadway and highway design and develop plans from conceptual design to final contract documents.
• Familiarity with TAP and SRTS projects through NJDOT Local Aid is a plus.
• Prepare technical reports and studies, including Concept Development and Final Design Reports.
• Lead field visits to assess conditions and inventory substandard or critical design elements.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline design engineers and technicians.

Compensation

• Salary: USD 130,000 - 160,000 per year.
• Base pay may vary and can be higher or lower depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
• In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the role offered.
