Principal Software Engineer

Principal Software Engineer role with Focused Support LLC in Columbia, MD (hybrid), USD 185,000 - 240,000 per yearly.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, resilient, adaptable, and secure software architectures
• Ensure designs align with business goals and objectives
• Perform hands-on implementation of core frameworks and critical system components
• Proactively manage technical debt and promote best practices in code quality, security, and performance; provide technical leadership and conduct code reviews
• Communicate technical status and direction clearly to non-technical Product Owners and other stakeholders
• Lead software development teams by articulating the architectural vision and maintaining an active presence in the codebase
• Mentor junior developers through pair programming, architectural guidance, and constructive feedback
• Oversee and, when needed, perform product deployments to customer locations

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment
• Capable of working with minimal day-to-day direction
• Expert proficiency with a modern object-oriented language such as Java, C++, or C#
• Proficiency with modern web design paradigms, tools, and languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, etc.
• Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to new environments and methodologies
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs and priorities of a small, rapidly growing business
• US citizenship required due to security requirements
