Job Description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Roy, Utah seeks a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to advance flight system electrical design and analysis, lead PDP/ADP development, and coordinate across teams to deliver robust avionics solutions.

Salary

USD 98,400 to 184,200 per year

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field, or Master's degree, or PhD

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Flight Systems Futures program scope, overseeing design and development, procurement/manufacturing, and integration and test for diverse flight systems.
  • Attend internal program, customer, and supplier technical exchange meetings.
  • Support formal program milestone reviews by providing and obtaining progress status updates.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment with varied assignments and collaborative teams across all levels.
  • Ensure effective coordination between electrical design and other integration teams.
  • Coordinate electrical system engineering content and deliverables.
  • Conduct electrical analysis or develop LRU electrical designs.
  • Develop PDPs and ADPs and drive them through the full review and release process.
  • Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, data sheets, interconnect diagrams, specifications, electrical analyses, and trade studies.
  • May perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro‑mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and related domains.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to understand system level interdependencies affecting electrical requirements and design constraints, and embody leadership principles such as integrity and respect.

Requirements

  • Educational and experience combinations:
    • Bachelor's in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience, or Master's with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year; or
    • 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's, or Master with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Electrical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, missiles, or related platforms.
  • Functional block diagram work; Visio preferred.
  • Schematic capture experience; Altium preferred.
  • PSPICE electrical simulation proficiency.
  • Electrical requirements development and support for system engineers.
  • Electrical analysis for compliance with requirements.
  • Electrical interface control document generation.
  • Electrical system architecture design, including grounding and power distribution.
