Product Design Engineer

Visiontron Corp. is seeking a Product Design Engineer to own the full product lifecycle, from concept through production, providing hands-on engineering support across design and manufacturing teams. This onsite role in Holtsville, NY emphasizes SolidWorks modeling, Excel-based BOM management, and evaluating performance and manufacturability to deliver robust, cost-conscious solutions.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive the development of new products, processes, and quality procedures.
• Revise existing designs to improve clarity and update related documentation (drawings, BOMs, QC standards).
• Create 3D models and production-ready drawings in SolidWorks.
• Assemble BOM records for new or existing products using Microsoft Excel.
• Investigate product performance issues and prototype new designs with documented experiments and tests.
• Update Engineering Change Order documentation as needed.
• Compile customer-facing product specification spreadsheets in Excel.
• Conduct time studies to support accurate costing and process improvements.

Requirements

• Experience guiding a product from concept to completion.
• Interest or experience with diverse materials and processes, including aluminum extrusions, plastic injection molded components, metal fabrication (welding, machining, stamping), rubber molding, zinc die casting, and brass die casting.
• Collaborative approach to working with production staff to align designs with facility capabilities including CNC milling, CNC plasma, routing, welding, sheet metal bending, and related fabrication methods.
• Willingness to tackle a wide range of technical tasks in production and design.
• 3 to 7 years of proven success in a design or manufacturing technical role.
• Familiarity with designing parts for castings, extrusions, stamping, machining, welding, and injection molding is preferred.
• Familiarity with drawing standards for manufacturability.
• Strong computer skills, including SolidWorks and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field.
• Ability to balance manufacturability with cost, durability, and aesthetics.
• Excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
