Job Description

This role focuses on the design and development of electro-mechanical valves, ducting, and fluid/thermal control systems, guiding products from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, finance, mechanical engineering, quality, testing, program management, and production support to advance project goals.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop prototypes and products that are ready for production transfer.
  • Perform design work and analysis to satisfy internal specifications and customer requirements.
  • Design tooling and fixtures as needed to ensure consistent, economical manufacturing of designs.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues in the lab and on the production line.
  • Assist in evaluating and addressing field escapes and customer-reported issues.
  • Create parts lists and digital bills of materials, including sub-assemblies, fasteners, tooling, and hardware, aligned with design requirements.
  • Develop procedures for parts and systems, such as Acceptance Test Procedures, Qualification Test Procedures and Reports, and Qualification by Analysis and Similarity Reports.
  • Generate 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies using ANSI and ASME Y14 GD&T standards and other best practices.
  • Develop product concepts, tooling designs, drawings, and bills of materials based on customer data, loading, performance requirements, material applicability, and environmental constraints.
  • Lead assigned projects and drive progress to milestones.
  • Develop designs, data, specifications, processes, and reports throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Present findings and designs at technical reviews.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent education and experience, with 8+ years in an engineering design and development environment.
  • Extensive experience designing mechanical components and systems using advanced composites, elastomers, and metals (examples include ECS components, ducts, and multi-layer panels).
  • Familiarity with aerospace composite and metal manufacturing methods and best practices.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to methodically share knowledge with other team members.
  • Proficient in CAD modeling and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and/or Catia.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Desired Capabilities

  • Experience with project engineering and technical leadership.
  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards.
  • Ability to define test plans, write test procedures, and lead development and qualification testing.
  • Experience with stress analysis and simulations, with Ansys preferred.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
