Job Description

Product Engineer role supporting John Deere in Fuquay-Varina, NC with a long-term, 2+ year, 100% onsite contract focused on design improvements, root-cause analysis, and production implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy engineering design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of existing product lines
  • Coordinate execution of multiple moderate-scope engineering projects on a unified schedule aligned to fixed factory implementation dates
  • Investigate root causes of quality and field reliability issues, then engineer corrective actions intended for permanent resolution
  • Deliver technical engineering support to manufacturing operations, quality, supply management, and test teams
  • Draft engineering change orders (ECOs), review GD&T technical drawings, perform engineering calculations, and support transition of designs into active assembly lines

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (Creo) and PDM/PLM systems (Windchill)
  • Working familiarity with enterprise systems (SAP) and analysis tools (ANSYS)
  • Working knowledge and troubleshooting ability across mechanical, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, structural, and powertrain systems
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T, technical manufacturing prints, engineering calculations, and data analysis
  • Demonstrated experience guiding product designs from concept through production release

Compensation & Position Details

  • Pay rate: up to $44/hr (W2)
  • Job type: contract
  • Location: 100% onsite at John Deere Turf Operations (Fuquay-Varina, NC)
  • Duration: 2+ years
  • Shift: 1st shift, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday
  • Overtime: required based on project needs
  • Expected hours: 40.0 per week
  • Travel: minimal (less than 10%)
  • Safety gear: metatarsal safety boots strictly required on Day 1
  • Visa sponsorship: not available now or in the near future for this position

Preferred / Standout Qualifications

  • Master’s in Engineering or advanced degree
  • Experience with commercial mowing products, turf equipment, or parallel off-highway industries
  • Experience with gasoline/diesel engines, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), systems engineering, or Six Sigma methodologies
