Sefar Inc. is seeking a Product Design Engineer Components to provide engineering support for new part creation and continuous improvement across quality, technology, and production output. This onsite role in Depew, NY covers design, fabrication, cost, and supply responsibilities for designated product lines.
Role Scope
The Product Design Engineer Components will contribute engineering expertise to support initiatives focused on improved quality, technology, and production output. The role is accountable for design, fabrication, cost, and supply aspects for designated product lines, including coordinating with sales on quoting and part design and helping ensure customer expectations, labor efficiency, and material efficiency are met.
Core activities include generating CAD drawings, creating work instructions, defining manufacturing operations, and providing direct input on product manufacturability, process flow, and material utilization. The position also supports process improvement by working with operators and equipment to meet or exceed production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Create new parts and revise existing parts to customer specifications.
- Enter routings and bill of materials (BOMs) into the ERP system.
- Ensure existing routings and BOMs remain updated and accurate.
- Debug issues involving fit, form, and/or function in the product.
- Conduct testing on new and existing products.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers.
- Prepare design, tooling, and/or production drawings.
- Support product estimating, including material yield estimates, bill of materials and design router, and related cost inputs such as special packaging, shipping costs, and tooling.
- Maintain project ownership and manage the project plan until the transition to manufacturing is complete.
- Participate in continuous improvement to achieve the lowest manufacturing cost while maintaining or improving quality.
- Assist the Quality Department in investigating and correcting customer complaints.
- Train Sefar personnel regarding manufacturing techniques.
- Work with customers, sales, marketing, and/or engineers on product design.
- Assist manufacturing with process optimization.
- Understand and utilize Sefar policies and procedures as appropriate to complete related tasks.
- Assume other assignments as directed by Management.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year technical degree in an Engineering discipline or Industrial Technology is required.
- 1 to 3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
- Must be able to use CAD, Microsoft Office applications, IBM Notes, Infor LN (ERP), and a Windows operating environment.
- Knowledge of industrial filtration, technical fabrics, sewing, slitting, and/or web converting is beneficial.

Travel
