Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Prepare and issue project submittals to clients and authorities.
• Monitor project costs by reviewing, coding, and approving invoices; verify rates for accuracy.
• Track daily material quantities and usage.
• Verify daily labor and equipment utilization; report payroll information to the main office.
• Issue, manage, and track subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries to maintain schedule.
• Create, track, and manage RFIs, change orders, and equipment lists.
• Maintain the project log and monitor costs versus budget; track extra work and timekeeping.
• Support development and monitoring of project and master schedules.
• Review accounts payable and subcontracts for accuracy and compliance.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors and other stakeholders, providing customer service as needed.
• Perform plan takeoffs and assist in the preparation of estimates.
• Field mark, submit, and maintain USA dig tickets.
• Assist the Chief Estimator with bidding activities.
• Manage project startup and closeout tasks.
• Act as a proactive user of Viewpoint accounting and job cost system.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in a similar field of construction.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including technology, equipment methods, craft agreements, jurisdictions and negotiations.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Must have the ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, lift, balance, push and pull as required for office and field positions.
• Lift up to 25 lbs; frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
• Occasional overnight travel is required.
• Work on a construction jobsite environment.
