Project Engineer
Job Description
Machado & Sons Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to provide on-site and administrative support for construction projects in Turlock, CA.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue project submittals to clients and authorities.
- Monitor project costs by reviewing, coding, and approving invoices; verify rates for accuracy.
- Track daily material quantities and usage.
- Verify daily labor and equipment utilization; report payroll information to the main office.
- Issue, manage, and track subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries to maintain schedule.
- Create, track, and manage RFIs, change orders, and equipment lists.
- Maintain the project log and monitor costs versus budget; track extra work and timekeeping.
- Support development and monitoring of project and master schedules.
- Review accounts payable and subcontracts for accuracy and compliance.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors and other stakeholders, providing customer service as needed.
- Perform plan takeoffs and assist in the preparation of estimates.
- Field mark, submit, and maintain USA dig tickets.
- Assist the Chief Estimator with bidding activities.
- Manage project startup and closeout tasks.
- Act as a proactive user of Viewpoint accounting and job cost system.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in a similar field of construction.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including technology, equipment methods, craft agreements, jurisdictions and negotiations.

Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Must have the ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, lift, balance, push and pull as required for office and field positions.
- Lift up to 25 lbs; frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Occasional overnight travel is required.
- Work on a construction jobsite environment.
