Project Engineer
Job Description
Evergreen Fire and Security is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the design and coordination of integrated security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and perimeter protection. This onsite role in Tacoma, WA collaborates with Business Development and Field Operations to ensure seamless integration from concept through construction, aligning engineering rigor with practical field execution. The position offers a salary range of USD 85,000 to 110,000 per year and requires a BA/BS in Engineering or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Design electronic security system (ESS) projects with precise CAD drawings, thorough bid reviews, and accurate cut/buildout documentation.
- Evaluate electrical systems, products, and components through research to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and specifications.
- Confirm system and component capabilities by devising testing methods and conducting tests.
- Provide engineering and technical information to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Support System Engineers, Technicians, and Project Managers throughout the design process.
- Collaborate with peers in developing, drafting, and finalizing competitive proposals.
- Stay current with relevant regulations, codes, and specifications by maintaining a comprehensive library.
- Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, and complete system certification courses.
- Maintain and obtain necessary certifications.
- Assist the Business Development team in presenting technical and security solutions to clients.
- Keep Project Managers fully informed on technical solutions and all related documentation and specifications.
- Travel to job sites for compliance checks, proposal deliveries, customer satisfaction assessments, and in-depth site surveys.
- Provide estimates and proposals for customer submission.
- Submit regular status reports to the Director of Engineering or assigned supervisor.
- Ensure consistent use of the company’s standardized tools and software.
- Travel to job sites for hands-on experience, troubleshooting, and on-site support.
- Perform site surveys or visits, which may require travel CONUS and OCONUS.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Engineering or a related field.
- Working knowledge of system layouts, wiring diagrams, and construction documents.
- Strong communication skills for effective customer interfacing.
- Strong collaboration abilities.
- Willingness to travel.
- Valid enhanced driver’s license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and continuing random background, drug, and MVR screenings.

Nice-to-Haves
- 2–5 years of experience in low-voltage systems, physical security, or a related field (e.g., access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, fire alarm, or electrical).
- Strong field experience supporting installation, service, or commissioning of security or life-safety systems.
- Prior experience working on military installations.
