The Factory Project Engineer will support Nestlé USA’s factory capital project lifecycle in Medford, WI, working onsite to identify, develop, and deliver improvements that meet technical, safety, quality, and compliance expectations. This role provides hands-on technical leadership to coordinate internal and external stakeholders through construction and commissioning, while maintaining control of scope, budget, schedule, and documentation.

Role overview

As a key engineering point of contact for assigned initiatives, you will assist with pre-project planning, oversee progress against established project deliverables, and guide execution through installation, construction, and commissioning. You will also support factory operations and plant startup activities as needed, while monitoring compliance with applicable quality and GMP requirements aligned to FDA and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

Assist in creating pre-project approval documents, including the project charter, project management plan, project kick start, and development of estimates and milestone schedules.
Monitor design progress and ensure deliverables align with established project key components.
Review design details to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution.
Select contractors and contracting approaches based on the applicable engineering ways of working methodology.
Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning for assigned projects.
Manage adherence to project scope and secure approvals for project changes using the engineering ways of working methodology.
Control and forecast project budget, including regular cost forecasts and cash flow projections via project cost and status reports (at least monthly or as requested).
Maintain milestone schedules and integrated detailed scheduling aligned with the project charter.
Manage data collection and feedback processes for projects.
Monitor processes for compliance with quality and GMP requirements in accordance with FDA and OSHA regulations.
Provide construction management and plant startup assistance to support successful project execution.
Evaluate, select, and issue construction contracts through bidding and prequalification vetting processes.
Provide self-directed project management end to end on assigned projects with minimal supervision from the department manager.
Monitor the work output of less senior engineers on the project team as assigned by the department manager.
Provide technical support to Factory operations.
Support participation in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) within the Business Unit or assigned factory.
Ensure decisions reflect an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations and never implement changes without assessing impact on product safety/quality, people safety, and the environment; no compromises will be tolerated.
Adhere to the highest principles of ethical conduct toward the community, consumer, company, and the engineering profession, maintaining competitive and fair dealings.
Support clear and open communication among team members and stakeholders, including site and market management, PTC, CO Engineering, CT Packaging, and the SBU.
Ensure procedures protecting Nestlé’s technological and proprietary know-how are in place and actively implemented.

Requirements

Coaching required from the Factory Engineering Manager on a regular basis.
Project management experience of 1-2 years, leading projects under $1 million.
Use of PMI Project Management Institute stage gate procedures and tools.
Ability to manage Scope, Cost, Schedule, and risks on small and minor projects.
