Project Engineer / Designer - Tool & Die

Autodie LLC is seeking a Project Engineer / Designer to coordinate and deliver die engineering and design work from project kickoff through die manufacturing. This onsite role in Grand Rapids, MI focuses on balancing timing, quality, cost, and technical execution across multiple engineering disciplines, supported by advanced CAD capabilities.

In this position, you will lead through process engineering, simulation, surfacing, and die design, bringing technical deliverables to completion while coordinating with internal teams, customers, and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, execute, and complete die engineering and design activities from project kickoff through die manufacturing.
• Oversee project timing, quality, cost, and technical execution across process engineering, simulation, surfacing, and die design phases.
• Carry out advanced CAD design and surfacing using CATIA V5 and/or Siemens NX, including creation, modification, and validation of die surfaces and manufacturing data.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate work across internal teams, customers, and external suppliers.

Requirements

• Minimum four (4) years of experience; education or a relevant combination is preferred.
• Knowledge of sheet metal stamping dies and sheet metal formability.
• Ability to communicate technical issues and concerns effectively in both written and verbal formats with external and internal customers, and drive resolution.
• CAD experience with CATIA and/or NX (both preferred).
• Ability to travel when required to suppliers and pattern sources.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong software skills desired in Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint and Excel.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects while providing technical leadership throughout the engineering and design process.
