Regional Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Alpine Intel is expanding its engineering services in Columbus, Ohio, with a Regional Electrical Engineer who specializes in insurance-loss investigations involving technical equipment. This role blends on-site fieldwork with formal client reporting to guide restoration or salvage decisions through careful analysis and clear documentation. The position combines independent work with collaboration across teams, and includes travel to client sites as required.
The role is based in Columbus, onsite, with travel to client locations as needed. Expect about 20 percent travel, including occasional overnight stays, dependent on claim volume.
Responsibilities
- Lead investigations of commercial and industrial systems for insurance claims; oversee project organization and execution with the highest levels of professionalism, quality, and integrity.
- Apply technical expertise for both independent and collaborative analyses, guide support colleagues, and ensure all findings are documented and delivered to the client.
- Document findings internally and in the final formal deliverable report.
- Manage project timelines, documentation, budget preparation and adherence, and overall time management.
- Interface with clients verbally and in writing, providing timely updates and ensuring expectations are met.
- Manage vendors and subcontractors needed to complete the project.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to secure necessary materials and services as appropriate.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting and evaluation to determine repair, refurbish, or replace determinations.
- Establish the cause of equipment damage, including water, lightning, and power surge events.
- Handle claims related to a range of electronic equipment, including computer networks, medical technology, industrial machinery, telecommunications infrastructure, and manufacturing equipment.
- May be assigned additional work or projects as determined by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- 1–3 years of experience evaluating failures in commercial or industrial settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Approximately 20% travel with occasional overnight trips; travel may increase with claim volume.
- Experience in consulting or client-facing roles is beneficial.
- Strong technical writing and documentation abilities.
